Hello
I made the switch to safety razors, brushes, and fancy soaps 7 or 8 years ago. Not long after that I bought a shave ready gold dollar 100 and a board strop. I enjoyed it, but mostly used the safety razors. Last fall I decided I wanted to learn how to sharpen my kitchen knives and bought a Naniwa 1000/5000 combo stone. The online store description for that stone said that with a higher grit finishing stone it could be used to hone straight razors. Fast forward to today...I added the 8000 and 12,000 Naniwa, a DMT D8C, a shelf full of polishes and pastes, and 9 straight razors with another coming in the mail.
I'm already learning a bunch from reading the forums and will be posting a few questions of my own soon. Thanks in advance.

Thanked: 556Welcome from a fellow Canadian. I lived in Calgary and Edmonton for a couple of years and love that part of the world.
There are quite a few SRP members in and around the Rockies and a vary active Canadian wet shavers Facebook group.
A caution: the members of SRP are generous with advice and sharing of expertise, but we are also overt enablers who love to drag fellow straight razor enthusiasts down the rabbit hole with us.David
