Default Hello from Lancaster Co. PA

Hello. I'm Tom. I bought my first straight razor new on a whim this week --a new 5/8" Rudolf Stehlo. I then started poking around here to figure out what I'm doing, and realized I probably made a big mistake before my first straight razor ever touched my face by buying a non-shave ready razor. Gotta figure out where to go from here...

    Smile Welcome, Tom

There are plenty of people here who will offer to hone your razor for you. Some of them will even do a good job. Just check the reputation of the service providers here and make a decision. I'd do it for you, but I don't even have the time to keep my own razors all humming.

Welcome to SRP Tom. I am not familiar with the brand of razor you have but that doesn't mean anything. Check the member map on the Community drop down on the menu bar above. Maybe you can locate a member close to you that can meet with you and hone it up. Another option is to find someone in the Classifieds under Member Services and send it out for honing. Most give a quick turn over and you have a sharp razor in no time!

    Good luck

Welcome to SRP Tom. If you haven't already run across it here is the SRP Wiki with tutorials on everything you need to know about shaving with a straight razor. Damn near everything ... ... ask questions on the forum if you have them.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for your thoughts and advice. I'm sending the new razor off to Mr. Abrams for honing and can't wait to get it back and get started.
