Hello my name is Dennis. I have wanted to try str8 razor shaving for awhile.I have 2 old razors that were my grandads one is a Creamer and clemmons,I think , it is very hard to read. It has CC in old english script eched in the blade ,and made in Richmond Indiana. The other is a Nathan Extra 505/8 extra hollow ground. never was able to get them sharp enoughto shave with.Hoping to get enough info to get started.

Thanked: 1371Hi Dennis.
Welcome to SRP!!!
You will find a lot of information in the Wiki to help you get started.
What kind of stones have you attempted to hone those razors with?
To get started, you may be better off to send them out to a honemeister for honing, and then spend your first couple of months learning the finer points of shaving.
By the time they need honing again, you'll probably be in a much better position to do it yourself.
Do you also have a strop, soaps, and a brush?
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Welcome Cowboy!
We're glad to have you with us!
If you havent already, check the SRP Wiki as it is full of useful advice.
Straight Razor Place Wiki
I agree with HNSB, its a good idea to send your blade out to one of the pro's. This guarantees that you will have a shave ready razor and it will also provide you with a benchmark to judge your honing against.
Good luck and keep us posted!
