Thanked: 2Greeting from New Mexico!
Hello to all,
I've been collecting anything and everything sharp for years and recently have been turned on to straight razors. My very first razor I got was a very rugged looking boker. I now own many straights some very nice some not so much. I stumbled upon your site trying to do some research on one of the razors I recently found and I've never heard the brand. "West point" it also states demascus made in germany on it. Now I've been reading through this sight and I have to say, I was just collecting because I enjoyed the razors themselves, but after reading a lot of the discussions on shaving I'm gonna have to give one of these blades a go.
Thanks,
Rinaldi

Welcome to SRP!
We're glad to have you with us!
It sounds like you have a pretty good collection already! Any chance of some pics?
You should definately give straight razor shaving a try, once you try it you'll never want to use anything else...!
Have you sharpened the razors you have? If not, you may find that you need to hone them (or send them to be honed by a pro) before they can be used. A good way to check if they need to be sharpened is to test shave a small area of your face. If the razor pulls or does not remove hair then it needs to be honed.
You will also need a strop if you do not already have one, plus a shaving brush and some soap.
There is a load of information in the SRP wiki (link at the top of the page), from shaving and stropping to lather making and honing, so there is plenty of useful stuff to get you shaving in no time!
I know you'll love it!
Good luck!

I am glad you found us! If you take some time to read through the FAQ and the Wiki you will find all the information you need to be able to put your blades to use.
I agree with Stubear; I'd love to see some pictures of your collection.
and... Welcome to SRP!!!
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Greeting from New Mexico
Hello, Rinaldi:
Welcome to SRP. You obviously know a great deal about straight razors already. And, yes, it is time to begin shaving with one. Good luck.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 2Thanks for the warm welcome. I intend to get some pics asap. Can't right now I'm currently away from home. But would love to show off my collection. I checked the wiki for manufactures. Could find "West Point". Its driving me nuts. Lol. If anyone has any info on it I would greatly apreciate it.
Thanks,
Rinaldi
