    Default Hello

I've been poking around this forum for a bit and i am enjoying what i am reading and seeing here. I've been making custom knives for 21 years now and have had an interest in straight razors for awhile but have never played with them until recently. I picked up a couple older razors off of ebay the other day and am in the process of refurbishing them. hopefully get them prettied up soon and start learning how to shave with them. Any advice is welcome.

Welcome to SRP. As paco said there is a lot of great info in the SRP Wiki here on shaving, restoring and just about everything concerning striaght razors. Good luck with your restorations and I hope you have smooth shaving sooner than later.

    Hello, Jared:

Welcome to SRP. With your experience in knives, you already are way ahead at the starting point for straight razor shaving. It's a sweet obsession for most of us. Good to have you along.

    Regards,

    Obie

Welcome to SRP. Knife restoration is an excellent start for working with straights but as I found out sharpening stones for straight razors go to finer grit than I had ever put a knife to. There is plenty of information here in the WIKI to get you started and if you run into any questions just bring them here. I have a feeling you're gonna love working with straights.
