hi everyone!
I have recently become way enchanted with straight razoring - doing it up the way men shaved when men were Men and whatnot.
Just did my first straight razor shave a couple days ago (with minimal face damage) and I am HOOKED!
So, hi everyone! I'm looking forward to learning a whole lot while I'm here!

Welcome, and congrats, good to have you at SRP!
Just to get more out of this introduction, what's your setup like right now?
What razors, strops, soaps, etc are you using?
All the best

I'm not sure of the razor type I got, but it has Solingen stamped on the tang, and looks like it might be 40-50 years old?
I'm using a badger brush and a bismarck leather strop. I'm trying creams and soaps trying to figure out what I like. For my first shave, I used CO Bigelow Poraso cream (which is a shame because I have a feeling it'll end up being my favorite)

Welcome to SRP!
e sure to check out the Straight Razor Place Wiki if you have not already. Also you may want to watch some of the videos in the general section, they helped me quite a bit.

david,
Welcome to SRP...
As you have found, sometimes being hooked, as in hooked on str8 razor shaving, can be a good thing.
The C. O. Bigelow shave cream (Proraso formulation) you used for your first shave is nice too. I've used Proraso for years and its still a favorite of mine.
Later, though, you may want to try some other shave creams such as Al's "The Bomb," Castle Forbes, Carrie M's, Colleen's, Truefitt & Hill, etc. The list is infinite. The Bomb, Carrie M's and Colleen's are all made by SRP members.
As they say...Variety is the spice of life--even in the life of a str8 razor shaver.
Take care--and smooth shaving..."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
