Thanked: 0Introductions are in order
Howdy from Texas! Call me rephormat (pronounced rē′för·mat). I have always been curious and intrigued by he thought of using a straight razor, but never really took the initiative. That is until (I can not tell a lie) I watched the movie Sweeney Todd. Now please don't get the idea that I'm going to use these razors for anything other than killing hairs, but I do like the movie and the fact that they put so much emphasis on the blades pushed me over the edge. "I HAVE TO HAVE ONE," I said aloud. Of course my wife looked at me strangely and after explaining what I was thinking it didn't help the look any. But now that she has seen me in action so to say she is now just as intrigued. I wanted to introduce myself and state that I have successfully completed two shaving attempts with my "new-to-me" straight razor with little to no blood loss as a result. My first night I only did WTG and second night WTG, XTG, and very little ATG. I feel my confidence level rising and my interest only becoming more peaked every step I take to the "closest shave a man can get."
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!!

Welcome to SRP!
We're glad to have you with us!
It sounds like you are off to a great start, which is good to hear. Just dont rush, take your time and develop your technique as you feel comfortable and you will get the results you want. If you rush, you may slice yourself, or at best end up with some uncomfortable shaves...!
If you havent already, check out the SRP Wiki and in particular, the Getting Started section. This whole site is full of useful information that will help you on your straight shaving quest..! Heres a link:
Straight Razor Place Wiki
Also, make use of the search function at the top of the page here on SRP. There are alot of queries that crop up fairly regularly and there are some great answers here on the site. But if you cant find what you're looking for then please ask. You'll find the advice friendly and forthcoming...!
Welcome again and good luck!Last edited by Stubear; 03-17-2010 at 06:28 PM.

Introductions are in order
Hello, Rephormat:
Welcome to SRP.
We all have to start somewhere. The idea is to start. You have already done that. Obviously you will also do ample research at SRP. Go about the art and craft of straight razor shaving slowly and methodically. It's like reading a book: a page at a time. Do the easy parts first and keep going. Before you know it, you'll be there. Good luck.
Regards,
Obie
