    Default New and interested

Hi, I'm James D. I shave with a safety razor now, but am interested in investigating the world of straight razors. Some suggestions on a good starter razor and sharpening tools would be appreciated, and where to buy them.

Welcome to SRP. Check out the SRP Wiki beginner's guide here to start with. Vendors who sponsor SRP are Straight Razor Designs, Classic Shaving and Vintage Blades among others. All good stuff. A razor and strop set is your best bet as you will need a strop. Others will be along with specific recommendations.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Hi James. Welcome to SRP!

Be sure to read the beginner's guide in the link that Jimmy gave you. The vendors mentioned are fantastic. You can also check out the classifieds here to get a shave-ready razor.

Also be sure to take a look at the list of razors to avoid: Brands of Straight Razors to avoid - Straight Razor Place Wiki

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
