Welcome to SRP, Mat!
We'll all be happy to help, and excited to hear about your first shave, however I would like to encourage you to check out the information available here before you start- if you haven't already.
If you've already done your homework, here's to you meeting with smooth sailing tomorrow. If the sailing isn't smooth, bandaids, time, and practice heal all wounds.

Welcome to SRP! We're glad to have you with us..!
I hope it all goes well with your first shave. Just remember to keep your pressure light and start with an easy area of your face, like the cheeks. Only shave if you feel comfortable doing so, and if you're not sure how to tackle an area then leave it and shave with your normal razor.
Its better to take your time and develop at your own pace than to race to the finish and cut yourself, or put yourself off straight razor shaving. It takes a little time to get right, but its well worth the time investment!
It will be necessary to get a strop at some point, and to make use of it before your shaves. This will keep your edges in good condition for a lot longer and you will probably find if you use a razor often without stropping, the edge will dull pretty quickly.
You can make a homemade strop that will serve you well if you can get hold of a few raw materials. Here are the SRP Wiki links on making a strop:
Making a (very) home-made strop - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Making a linen strop out of denim - Straight Razor Place Wiki
I made a denim flatbed hone from some old jeans and a piece of windowsill and it works very well..!
You can also get a good beginners strop from one of the vendors here on SRP. SRD, RupRazor, Tony Miller and Strop Shop here in the UK all sell excellent strops, so have a look around and see what you can find!
Welcome again and good luck!

Welcome to SRP. Read my sig line below to avoid nicks and cuts. Still works for me when I follow the old barber's advice.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
