    Default New from Florida

Hello all. I am new to Straight Razor Place and to straight razor shaving. Have not tried it yet, i just recieved my first razor that i purchased off ebay. It is a Gottlieb Hammesfahr 164 with a pyramid and a "+" inside the pyramid. I know this manufacturer made daggers for the Waffen SS during World War 2. Does anyone have any further info about the manufacturer or maby the time period that this razor would have been produced. I am also in need of some one (preferably local to Gainesville, Florida) that can hone and strop it and allow me to watch and learn.

Thanks all and i hope to have a great relationship with Straigh Razor Place.

Welcome to SRP Ken. I don't have any info on the razor but I am sure one of our more senior members will chime in shortly. Good luck on your journey and if you haven't already read through the beginners section of the wiki it would be a great place to start.

Welcome to SRP. I don't know about that razor either but someone will probably be along who will.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Welcome, Ken!

I thought the razor sounded familiar and while I can't really give any info about the company, you can see a gorgeous razor by them in a hand-sanding thread started by ignatz:

Also, I'm still new enough to honing where I'm not sure if I'd be a proper teacher but unless there's some major damage I can probably get it to shave. Just sent you a PM.

BTW, post an image or link to the razor if you can. We love pics.
