    Default hello from Ontario

    Hi all,

great resource you've got going here. I have a blade on order from hi_bud_gl and have a brush and soap keeping me busy in the meantime. I'll post something more about my first straight razor shave once the package arrives.

However, I still need a strop and have a couple questions about buying consumables locally.

Where can I get a good strop? I've asked a couple local barbershops and they all recommend ordering from the states online.

I've also started a thread asking for help on where to purchase shaving soaps locally (http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...ing-soaps.html).

    Grateful for your help...

Thanks for the comments guys. It's too bad this art isn't more popular....I imagine that there isn't enough demand to sustain local stores. When purchasing anything I usually like to touch & feel first, but I suppose I'll have to get used to ordering blind online.

    I hear you.

Not only touch and feel, but take your purchase home on the spot.

Buying online is blind and then you have to wait, and wait and wait

I have the SRD black latigo strop and it really is excellent! You won't be disappointed with a strop from Lynn and Don.

Good luck and let us know what you choose!

Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I ended up going with the Illinois strop #835 from Fendrihan.com in toronto. (Illinois Razor Strop Co. 835 Hanging Razor Strop). Seems like a decent middle-of-the-pack strop to start out with.
