    Default Hello from Ontario, Canada

I've been lurking for a while so I figured it was about time for a quick intro and hello.

My name is Joseph and I'm addicted to wet shaving

My other hobbies include pipe smoking and collecting, golf, cooking and eating (I'm not sure if eating qualifies as a hobby), speculating in the stock market, and trying to live a 'dolce far niente' lifestyle.

Before I discovered "real' wet shaving last summer I would do anything to avoid having to shave my face; I use to suffer from a lot of ingrown hairs, bad razor burn and neck rash. Then on a trip to Italy, my Sicilian father-in-law (who was a barber in Sicily) asked me to pick him up some Alum blocks; my response was "What the heck is an Alum block?" After searching dozens of barber shops in Italy, we finally located a half dozen of the blocks. Curiosity got to me so I opened one up and gave it a try. To make a long-story short, the results were amazing and the quest began to find other top-quality wet shaving products, and learn how to shave properly. I went from hating shaving to loving it... go figure.

I've been using a DE razor but I want to eventually take the plunge into straight razor shaving; this is what brought me to SRP.

    Thanks for letting me in.

Welcome to the SRP. Enjoy your stay. I too used to have a lot of problems with ingrown hairs using the disposables, that is how I started shaving with a DE and then moved to a straight almost 4 months ago. Be careful, this is an addictive but fun hobby. Enjoy it.
