Hi all,
I online alias is Zidago, I live in Darwin, Australia. Just saying hello and introducing myself here. I have never really had a passion for shaving, always waiting a week before applying foam and doing the usual. Then, my girlfriend brought me a hair dressers straight razor from Bali back with her, and after that day I was hooked. It is cheap and has replaceable blades, though it still has a very nice balance and does the job for now.
I have ordered a Flic razor from ebay, fairly rusted with some ugly scales. It will be my first actual Straight, and I will try to renew it with the help of this site's wiki page. When I receive it, I will post pictures in a new thread and ask for some advice.
Anyway, the first shave was horrid, the second left me with a rash and the third produced cuts that streaked blood across my neck, causing my girlfriend to almost feint at the site. It has been smooth sailing from there though, and I believe as I get more experience and the proper equipment (no brush, soap or strop yet) I will become even better.

Welcome to SRP Zidago! You have the will and persistence to become a good straight shaver. The WIKI is the best place to start your journey. Be sure to check out the classifieds section on the menu bar above and the vendors that advertise on the top and side of the SRP pages as well as the vendors forum. We usually advise against purchasing off auction sites for newbies to straight shaving so they can focus on the technique of straight shaving w/o adding any razor condition or quality issues to the mix. Also read through the 'razors to avoid' section in the WIKI to save you some money and frustrations.
Good luck“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
