Thanked: 0Hello from western Washington (the state)
Hello to all you straight razor users,
I've been lurking here for some time. This forum has been a great source of information. I just sent off a Griffon Carbo-Magnetic 5/8 to Lynn for honing. When it comes back I'll start applying what I've learned.

Clyde,
Welcome to SRP. We're pleased as punch to have you aboard.
Let us know how your shave goes with that Griffon you sent off for honing. Do you already have a strop, mug or bowl, shaving brush, and soap or cream to complete your shaving kit?

Thanked: 0Thanks jhenry,
I've been wet shaving for almost 15 years. I started with the idea to reduce the cost of shaving. I've been using an Eveready boar bristle brush, Old Spice shaving mug, and Surrey (or Van der Hagen) Deluxe or Glycerine soap. All of those things were cheap and available at my local drugstore.
I just bought some leather and hardware to make a strop. I got enough leather for two strops. If I don't nick up the first one I may give the other to a deserving young man.
