    Default Hello from Houston

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site and to straight razor shaving, but must say I've really enjoyed reading the posts and have already learned a lot. Does anyone know where to find straight razor shaving supplies, or where to get a razor honed in the Houston area? I can't seem to find anything listed online.

Thanks for a great site and I look forward to learning more about this great shaving experience.

    Best regards,

    Mark.

    Welcome to SRP.
I saved an older post from a member on another forum that had a little information about stores in houston. I moved shortly after and didn't try out any of these stores but they might still be good resources.

    Good Luck,

    Dan

    Here's the old post:

I haven't found any razors or blades locally.

Nordstroms at the Galleria carries Truefitt & Hill and Art of Shaving. No DE's though. They do have some brushes that are over priced IMO.

The Baybrook Mall has a Body Shop. Their shave cream is very good (although the scent is questionable) and an aftershave called Razor Burn Relief that is one of the best aftershaves I've use (YMMV).

If you ever find yourself in Lake Jackson, TX there's a store in the Brazosport Mall that carries Col. Conk soaps a couple of badger brushes, a couple synthetic brushes, and some old school soap scuttles. Nothing really special but I was surprised to find anything down there.

Finally, in Seabrook there's a store called Harlequin that carries the C&E line. They even have a couple brushes but I don't think they have the famed Best Badger brush. They have C&E soaps and aftershave balms in stock but they're out of creams right now. I talked to the owner yesterday and she's supposed to be ordering more.

Be sure to post if you find a knife shop, or something that carries razors!

    Good Morning Mark;

Welcome to SRP. There's got to be some Texacan down there that can hone a Str8 razor. If your lucky you might find a SRP Mentor in the area. Keep browsing the site and check out the Wiki section. When you are ready you can learn to do it yourself.
    Have a nice day,
    MIke

British Imports in the Rice Village has a small spread of shaving supplies. I get my TOBS there.

If you're looking for some vendors, try one of the adverts on the top-right of the forum pages. These are all good vendors that will deliver you a properly honed razor. Alternatively, there's the classifieds here on the site. The classifieds also have a list of folks that will hone any razors up that you already have.

I found a company in Houston that has some straight razors. They have a web page, I found them at a gun show today so I'm not sure about a store. The company is bayoucityknives.com

I'm new to the sight and can't wait to get my razor and get started.
