Default Hello and 1st razor purchase porn

Hello to all! My name is actually Dan, but my wife thinks I look like Sid the Sloth from the "Ice Age" movies, hence my user name.
Anyway, I have never used a straight razor, but look forward to giving them a go.
Today, I purchased this razor from a local antique shop for $15. It is a Wade&Butcher "The Celebrated" measure 13/16" from back to edge, has what looks to be buffalo horn scales and little brass pivot/pins, and came with box.

Hi Dan, welcome to SRP. Kind of hard to see with the small images but looks good from here. The thing you'll want to do now is have it honed to shave ready. You can look in the SRP classifieds for a member that performs that service for a nominal fee. You've got some members up in your neck of the woods as well. Read my sig below to avoid nicks and cuts and go to the link for the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Hi Dan,

    welcome to SRP.

Great catch on your first W&B 'The Celebrated' purchase. They take a great edge and shave equally well.

Keep us updated about your first steps into the straight shaving world and don't forget to ask questions in the appropriate forum. We're all here to help.

Default Doing a lot of reading ...

Thanks for your welcomes and advice!

I have been keeping busy reading in the forums and wiki, learning a ton about razors and strops and polishing and honing and on and on...

Also, I have been keeping my eyes open for razors at household sales and antique shops. It's fun to find them! Hard to resist adding to the collection.

    Thanks again for the welcome!
