Thanked: 0Hello fae bonny Scotland!
Hi all,
I've been lurking and reading the reviews of different products for about a week now, and I am very impressed! Who knew shaving could be such a big deal?
My dad taught me how to shave with an old DE, but I have always used disposables. Funny, I am very environmentally concious, in fact I'm the crazy guy who yells at everyone else about waste and recycling and pollution, but I never once factored razors into my environmental equation!
Now I have an excuse to go out and buy more stuff!
I'll definitely get some lathering shave cream asap, (I use Ambrosia from Lush--it's brilliant for your skin, but it doesn't foam at all) and a brush as well, but I will have to keep on with my disp razors for at least another couple of weeks until I get a proper job and can afford it. Even then, I'll probably go with a shavette from Dovo, just to be sure that I can actually shave without killing myself! The other factor is that I may end up working on a ship...that could be dangerous-me shaving, and we hits a big wave--!
Cheers for all the great info and fantastic reviews of products. This is a great resource.

Hello Bert. Welcome to SRP. Happy to have you aboard.
Don't worry about shaving on the ship. Grow a thick, beard onboard. Then have fun shaving it off when you get back to port.Last edited by jhenry; 05-11-2010 at 10:44 PM.

Hello Bert! Funny you should mention bones, the first and only time (so far anyway) I met a Scotish offical he told me: Make no bones about it, we want you to buy our fish .
One note though, I tried a shavette the first time I shaved with a "straight" and to me they´re more difficult to shave with than with a ordinary straight. But I´m sure you´ll find out about those things if you lurk here for a while, a lot of people with mad skills here .
Welcome from another newbie!
