Hello
Thinking about getting in to straight razor shaving, actually I have done all the thinking, now I am hunting. I will be hanging around and jumping in when I need to. I look forward to learning the new craft of the straight.

Hello whiteweed--and welcome to SRP. Pleased to have you aboard.
While hunting, make sure that you consult the SRP wiki. It will help you make a wise decision in your hunting, either for a brand new or vintage straight razor from one of the vendors who advertise here at SRP or in the SRP "Classifieds."
Whatever razor you finally bag during your hunt, make sure that it has been expertly honed prior to purchase. It will make your entry into the world of str8 razor shaving much easier and more enjoyable.
Take care--and smooth shaving."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Hello
Hello, Whiteweed:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. Please feel free to post your questions and thoughts. In the meantime, take a look around the Wiki for a wealth of information on straight razor shaving.
For your razor, I suggest staying off E-Bay for now, until you are familiar with the world of straight razors. Instead, look into razors and products offered through the vendors advertising on SRP. Also, the Classified section is a good source for straight razors.
We're delighted to have you with us.
Regards
Obie

Thanks, I will be spending a lot of time in wiki. The hunt for a straight has been a challenge so far, seems like I jumped in about a year to late. Maybe just because I am really looking now. I have been on ebay and if you paid yourself you would have the money to buy new with all the time to look through the pics and then you really can;t tell about the hone wear. I have been looking at Dovo Best and the Boker King Cutter, more than likely will go down the middle with a 6/8 although a 5/8 would be my pick but untill I learn how to strop the wider blade will help? The strop is what is really giving me a hard time. Do I want a second strop second strop such as linen. I am sure this is a subject for another section, but hey I am new. I am also sure that is a BIG topic. I do not want to or can I afford to play around like when I got into DE shaving, but most of that helps me here as I know how to do all the other stuff and am well armed there. I will float around and read, ask, and learn. I plan on a purchase in a week or so.
White"weed`\, n. (Bot.) A perennial composite herb (Chrysanthemum Leucanthemum) with conspicuous white rays and a yellow disk, a common weed in grass lands and pastures; -- called also oxeye daisy.
