    Default Another newbie

Hello all. I'm 32 married with 2 kids. Was looking into becoming a barber. So naturally I have been turned on to the straight razor crowd. Big into old cars and 50's nastalgia. Hot rods (rat rods). Still using a Mach III. Just picked up an old Gillete DE from an antique shop. Still looking for a brush and straight razor. Had some bids on eBay. But keep getting out bid.

Welcome, I was a barber here in New Orleans from 1970 - 1985. We received two straights in our barber kits, quess they don't do that nowadays. Lots of info in the WIKI, reading the beginners section will be of much help. First razor from ebay is not very wise unless you know what your looking for. I would check the classifieds on this site first as the razors will be shave ready and from reliable members. good luck and keep us posted.

I'm looking at a nice Boker King Cutter right now. I got out bid on the Filarmonica I wanted. The brush was a nice petrified wood badger hair knot.

Back then to make any good money you had to be the one owning the shop and also do some chemical work, perm, color, etc and i was not really into that i just liked cutting hair. also had a offer to hire on at the utility co. so i got some really good free benefits i could not pass up.
