Hello All!
Greetings from Alabama:
I've been using a double edged razor for several years now. I've finally decided to make the jump to straight razor. Hopefully, I'll learn something from you folks who have been doing this a while.

Thanked: 33Hi jfleming9232,
Welcome to SRP!
If youv'e been wet shaving for several years then you will be familiar with pre/post shave products ,soaps ,brushes and astringents.
For straight shaving you should read the beginners section of the wiki in this site. There is a wealth of knowledge contained in the wiki that you will find useful for your journey.
Check out the classifieds to find vintage razors or SRD to find new razors according to your taste. And of course you will need a strop.
If you need any advice ,please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind regards
Noggs

Welcome to SRP. As Noggs said the Wiki is a good place to find a lot of great info. See the link in my sig line. Ask any questions you have in the forums as they come up. Someone will be around to help if they can.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I am looking forward to my first straight razor shave. Before that happens, however, I was hoping that someone here could tell me if I even have the right razor for the job. The first razor is a cheapo chinese SS piece that my wife bought me about two years ago. She bought it for me because I like wolves and it had a picture of wolves. The second razor I found at a flea market. It seems to be one that was actually used as a razor. It is stamped "Rawson & Youle Manufacturers" on the tang. I have enclosed pictures of both. Any information anyone could impart about these razors and their potential for use would be greatly appreciated.
