Thread: Hey From Georgia

Hello,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am wanting to get into straight shaving. I have been shaving with double edged safety razors for some time now. I have a disposable blade straight that I have been using as well with decent results.

I am concerned about my ability to hone a razor, though. My question is this, I hone my pocket knives and get them where they will shave hair very well, if I can do that, will I be able to hone a straight razor?

Any help with getting started will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SRP. Honing knives is not the same as honing straight razors but IMO you'll be able to catch on to it. Follow the link below in my sig line to the SRP Wiki. After you read the beginner's guide look for he 'honing a straight razor' tutorials and give them a once over. Also some good videos in the wiki help files. Ask any questions you may have and someone will be along.
