Hello
Hello folks, names Ian, new to the forum although I have been browsing it for a while..
New to the Straight shave game too, been looking to go for it for a long time but never actually got round to it, well here goes. Got myself a nice Taylors Eye Witness Blade that will be off to be honed and then, styptic pencil at the ready..
Any tips before the blade touches the face would be of help. Glad to be aboard.

Welcome along!
Take the opportunity to practise your prep, lather & stretching while the blade is off being honed.

Yes, I have some Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap and I've started using it for the usual wet shave. Been practising the stretching too.
May sound a daft question but here goes.. when using the straight, after a pass or two and the blades loaded with soap, do you towel it off or dip it ?

Now you've opened a can of worms!
Personally, I rinse. The way my taps are designed this is pretty safe & damage from contact is highly unlikely.
There are however, countless threads where chaps have damaged or destroyed blades by accidentally knocking them, & many prefer to wipe.
Up to you really.

Couldn't really think of a why not but thought I'd make sure, you never know.
Thanks for the help mate

Welcome friend. Jump on in the lather's warm, but the spike points bite. Don't worry its more of a love nip.
If you need a round tuit many of the guys here including myself fancy themselves an amateur bodger and would probably be willing to turn you one on a lathe.
