Hello from Iraq

My name is Adam I am currently being held in Baghdad, Iraq. I am (EOD) Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician for the Army, aka bomb squad but since the Iraqis have taken over I am bored out of my mind and I am always looking for something to do so I have decided I will teach myself how to shave with a straight razor while I am here. If I am lucky my strop will be here tomorrow and I will be able to enjoy my first straight razor shave tomorrow night. I love what I do but I am more than ready to go home to my family. My home is in Des Moines, Iowa but I am currently stationed out of Fort Riley, Kansas.

I have already spent hours reading over some of the threads on this forum it has been an excellent source of information. Oh yeah, I'm not really being held it just feels that way.

This is as good a time as any in your life to begin shaving with the straight razor. Take your time to hone your skill. Most of all, embrace the full ritual of wet shaving with the straight razor. It's quite an experience.

I would assume, given your MOS, that you have the steady hand, manual dexterity thing going on big time so you are already way down the road to having the skills for a great shaving experience. A little practice and patience and you will be there. Enjoy.
