Seems like you have the right attitude, and are thirsting for more knowledge. Can't give you any advise that other's have already said, other than to enjoy yourself

That sounds shave ready to me. It's still probably not as good as if I had Lynn hone it, but it sounds like it'll work for my first shave.
was that instruction from the store or the producer?
thats how you know the difference(almost all producers claim there product to be shave ready, when werry few actually are)

I'm not sure, although I think probably the producer, Theirs-Issard. I guess I'll go ahead and shave with it and see. I'll probably suck with it anyway the first several times and not be able to tell if it's truly shave-ready or not.

    Good to go.

You can keep using the last of your cartridge refills for the tough bits:
chin, adam's apple, jaw line... what ever you find difficult. Use the straight
on the easy bits at first and then add bit by bit till you get a full good
single pass shave. Then bit by bit add extra passes for a smoother
    shave as needed.

Think of it as being a teenager all over again, whiskers did not
arrive all at once... so the kids we all were once, would have had
a year or more to develop the skill on that peach fuzz before it got
too bristled. So take some time to learn how to use your new blade
    there is no rush....

You will also find that if you spend some time on your shave lather,
brush and skin prep the old cartridge thing will shave smoother and
better. Do not skimp on "lathering" you can even make the
last of your aveno canned goo shave better with the help of
a shave brush, a couple splashes of water and 'basic shave prep'.

Switching from an electric is different, but there no need to go there in
    this thread.
