    Default Just Getting Started

Hey everyone. I have enjoyed browsing all of the information on this site and it convinced me to give straight razor shaving a try! You just gotta love manly things... Anyhow I went ahead and ordered up a new Dovo Bismarck 6/8 and strop to get started (along with a copy of Lynn's DVD) and I am looking forward to their arrival this Friday.

I have also been trolling e-bay for some other do it your self type items. I figure it is always good to know how things are made and maintained from the ground up so I am sure I will be doing some investing there on hones and practice razors for sharpening.

So on with the two front attack of learning how to shave and how to get equipment into shaving shape.

Welcome to the club, Sounds like you are over the first hurdle just fine. The senior members discourage noobies from the bay, but if you stay in a modest price range you won't be out much if you make a mistake. Their advice is sound because there is a lot to consider when evaluating a razor. Enjoy the new razor and use it in good health.

Thanks for the heads up on ebay stuff. I'm just looking for items primarily to practice with (honing, refurb, etc.), so low end for now.
