Default So new he doesn't have a blade yet...

Hello from Lake County Ohio! All the info, FAQs and posts are quite helpful, and I am in the market for a good straight for a beginner. I'm not asking for suggestions, rather, but am interested in finding a store/dealer where I could inspect the razor before I buy it. If anyone knows about this area of the U.S. I'd appreciate any help I can get. If not, I'll take my chances online, which is much less daunting a task since reading over all the great info here.

Or you could buy from the classifieds here. I got a nice Filarmonica from ccgnet for a great price; in fact I recently saw a Fili 14 for $100, I believe. These guys sell some beautiful razors, often for incredible prices (those go fast!). My oldest son and I got started with a Dovo Best 5/8 we got from Straight Razor Designs; they are having some great 20% off specials right now. Either way, let us know what you get!

To add to the above, I hope you've seen the whole page of $35-45 razors on the classifieds right now. If I weren't short on cash, I'd get a couple just because they're so inexpensive.

I have to say the classifieds is a great way to get some nice shave ready razors for the price. I have already bought several and been very happy.
