Long time lurker finally checks in...
Hi All,
Long time lurker here. I'm a regular over at B&B and finally decided to check in here as I've started str8 shaving thanks to the constant help and advice of guys like Paul (Richmondesi), Dov (Chimensch) and Matt Gogo Golenor.
I've got about 30 or 40 str8 shaves under my belt. Doing ok for the most part...still trying to figure out the goatee area. Have quite a wetshaving collection stacking up but just getting into str8s (Dovo Best, ERN custom scale and Dovo Bismark are my only str8s so far).
Anyway, really looking forward to being an active member and learning from the massive population of experienced str8 shavers here!
Thanks for having me

Thanks Gents...looking forward to being able to rely only on the str8 to shave for work....hoping I can accomplish that sometime this year.
I've heard many say to use only a str8 for a few months...yet in the same breath they mention you'll have crappy shaves for awhile.
As an Active Duty US military member....thats not feasible (crappy shaves). So, I'm stuck with finishing with one of my many DEs until I have the whole shave figured out.
Once done, I think I'm going to post something about military guys trying to start out with str8s. I'm tired of reading that you really have to only use a str8 to learn. While that method may be the best way, its not a way thats feasible for a military guy.
So either you dont even try str8s, or you find some other option. I'm working on that other option...I'll post how it goes as my journey comes along.
Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome to SRP and as a former active duty Army Officer, and current Reservist, thank you for your service.
It's always good to see someone from the DC area taking the plunge as I am. I too started over on B&B when I decided to try a DE back in March/April. I quickly decided the straight razor was a logical progression. From my first time with a straight razor, I've not touched my DEs. I think you can make a cold turkey switch--even in uniform--but you have to know yourself and judge your progress. I look forward to hearing about your experience as you make the transition.
