hello peoples
Hey all, got the straight razor bug. I Have a nice new Dovo, Ebony with silver steel and have had about 5 shaves with it, some ok, some terrible, but I will persist.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the Dovo from? If you got it from a good site it should be shave ready, so the bad shaves are just your technique developing... However, if you got it from Dovo, or some other similar vendor, it may still have a factory edge (and not really be shave ready)

Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
Jeremy makes a good point: some vendors send out their razors professionally honed and shave-ready. The razor bought directly from the factory in all likelihood needs to be honed professionally, because the factory edges usually are not sharp enough for us.
Please peruse the large body of information and tutorials on the world of wet shaving with the straight razor. Beyond that, please post your questions.
