Thread: Excited to be here

My name is Mike and I have to give Kudos to Disburden for leading me to this forum (from a post he made in a cigar forum that I am a member of under a different name).

I've now spent nights reading as much as I can and am completely intrigued by shaving with a straight razor. I hope to soon take the plunge and become part of the family.

The monotony of shaving with my Mach III has left me underwhelmed. Razor burn and a crummy shave have left much to be desired. I find there is an instant romance with the straight; the rituals, soaps, balms and maintenance - just the ticket for pampering myself and getting into a new obsession.

So here I am, with an open mind and all ears to learn as much as I can.

It's good that you've been doing some reading before you decide to buy a razor and get started. Hopefully some of that reading has been the beginner's guide in the wiki.
