    Default New Here

My name's Adam.I have recently decided to switch to using a straight razor. There's a few reasons why I want to start.First is economics,I'm tired of paying so much for cartridges that just seem to keep getting more expensive and more blades. It also seems like it would be a joyful, soothing experience and a better shave.A way way to sort of relax, which there just doesn't seem to be time for.
I have yet to purchase a razor, strop or any other items.I have been trying to read and research as much as possible and this site has been a great help.I have been keeping my eye out for a nice shave ready razor.I do believe I'm ready to make the switch.

    Adam:

Welcome to SRP! It is good you have seen the light and are ditching those expensive cartridges. Shaving with a staright or DE is fantastic, relaxing and a lot of fun as well. Do as much reading as you can as there is a lot of information that can be found here. Don't be afriad to ask if you have questions.

I do recommend the classifieds for a good used razor Most are shave ready and the price is quite reasonable. If you plan on a new razor you can try one of th many vendors that are recommended here.

I started shaving less often as well when i started with a straight razor because it does such a great job (the wife likes the BBS feel as well). I can let the growth go a bit longer because i don't have to worry about the razor blocking up like it does with a cartridge.

    Welcome!

I'd have a look at SRD as they do a full kit with options on the razor, strop, brush, soap and mug. Definately a great way to get started..!

Have a look in the classifieds as well, as there are some great razors there too.

Good luck and keep us posted!
