Hi all, wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member, my first str8 is currently in the mail from Whipped Dog so I am looking forward to a long slow learning process. Any advice is welcomed!!

Hello and welcome to SRP. Glad to have you onboard.

Did Whipped Dog include a strop and shave brush wth your new straight razor? If not, you'll want to get one. You can get a decent brush from your local drugstore. You can get a good strop (3" wide recommended) from an online vendor who is very close to you--Vintage Blades--who advertises here at SRP.

Thanks jhenry! WD did include a strop and I have a brush and plenty of soaps from my foray into DE shaving. Plan on using my omega soap and brush with a Kyle's prep prior too and following the first shave plan outlined on this sight. Can't wait!!

    Welcome!

The best advice I can give would be to read as much as you can here before your first shave.

The wiki articles linked in my sig line below will be really helpful, and you should check out the forum stickies here as well.

Other than that it sounds like you're on your way!

Good luck and keep us posted!

    Welcome!

Just remember that it is a long slow process or at least it was for me. Most of all remember it's your face!

(I have an aunt and cousin in Bel Alton, MD)

Welcome to SRP and to the world of straight shaving. What part of the DC area are you joining from? I'm in the Alexandria area.

Good luck, let us know how it goes, and don't be afraid to ask questions!
