Thanked: 0SR newbie
I am 28 and decided to switch to SR. I wish I would have seen this site sooner because I have already seen a lot of great info. Unfortunately I already bought some SR from ebay and they are not shave ready. I got some whetstones also so at least I can learn to hone them. I have heard and read a lot about how it is easier to just have a professional hone it, but I am one of those stubborn do-it-yourselfers so any advice is always appreciated. It looks like there is definitely a lot of tip and input here to help me. I figure once I have the hang of this whole SR shave, I will invest in a better quality blade. I will definitely seek out help from the veterans here and am so happy to find such a great and informative site.

SR Newbie
Hello, dulcesuenos:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. Yes, having a professionally-honed straight razor when starting out is a fine idea. You can learn to hone later. For now, honing your skill matters most. Good luck.

Obie
