Thanked: 0New, Young and looking for a better shave
Hello peoples!
My name is Josh, I'm 18 years old, and I'm already tired of having a bad shave with bad two blade razors (cheep local brands). I enjoy watching movies of all sorts, gaming, and disliking my job like half the people I know XD. I have a friend who introduced me into this forum, and he is going to show me how-and why-straight razors are better. I've only herd good things about them, but never experienced it myself, so I thought I would give it a try.
Now don't hate me for saying this, but the very first thing that got me into straight razors was the movie Sweeney Todd:The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (and I can't remember the edict for quoting a movie). It made me want to know what it was like, and hearing all the good replies about it, I thought it was time for change.
So let me ramble on no more, but I'm always open to hearing about what real shaving is.

Welcome to the forum. There's a broad range of ages here.
Bad news about the job. You've got nearly fifty years of it ahead of you!

Hi herdy,
Welcome!
I was about your age when I first tried shaving with a straight razor. I had no idea what I was doing, and soon gave it up as a lost cause.
20+ years later, and I'm back. I can assure you that if you are willing to research the...”art”... and make a go at it, shaving with a straight razor will give you the best shave you've ever had. Not only in getting a BBS shave, but in the overall delight of the process itself.
The group of guys in the forum here are some of the most patient and helpful people I've met. My foray back into shaving with a straight razor wouldn't have been as smooth (no pun intended) without the folks here. Make use of the knowledge in the wiki and the forums! And look forward to the best shaving experience you've had..

Hello, You have taken the first step into one of the few last bastions of manliness left in society. I applaud your girlfriend for introducing to this areana. You will have multiple opportunities to: not only learn to shave, but listen to gentlemen, who still care about being men...So I encourage you to not only listen to the shaving advice, but to turn this into one of you regular reading sites. You will here advice from the doctor to stockbroker to the cowboy abd artist; and find that all have interesting stories...Another site you may want to dabble in is "The art of http://artofmanliness.com/"... Very interesting reads and advice....Just to prove my point...My daughter gets up early just to watch me shave every day, and my older daughter said aloud one day that she could never marry a man who shaves with a girl's razor (meaning the leg shaving bics). So what you do and learn as a man (regarding personal hygiene habits) does carry weight with the gals.....So after all that welcome and feel free to ask and questions and glad to have you aboard!
