Thanked: 0Another Bloody Aussie
Hi All my Name is Nick and i am from Sydney, Australia.
just picked up SR shaving about 3 weeks ago and completed my second shave today,
my first shave was terrible only because i jumped the gun before i preped my new Dovo 5/8 best quality razor properly, and used shaving foam.
over the last week and a bit i have made my own balsa pasted strop using dovo pastes and graphite powder and to my surprise the graphite powder gave my razor a really good edge, it was better then the first time so yesterday i decided that i would splurge on some shaving cream and balm,
prepared my two and a half week growth and had a great shave no nicks much smoother
now i just want to expand my collection and get further acquainted with my sharp friend
also as a note the graphite polished out some of the fine scratches from the dovo pastes and provided a great edge
wonder why when its suppose to be a lubricant

Welcome Nick, with enough numbers we will rise up and take control of this board.
Is straight shaving your first foray into the world of wet-shaving? If so, be prepared to learn things months, perhaps even years after starting. Last night I was in bed caressing my face whilst visualising my next shave when I realised "oh s**t...that's the direction it grows in."

Welcome Nick good luck with your shaving and keep at it. Things will improve as your technique improves. Dont do what i did and get so disgruntled on your first shave that you put the razor in storage for 18 years :-)

Welcome aboard Nick. Nice to see another local in the fold
