Hello everyone, I'm a new member from kansas. I've never used a straight before, but I'm very interested in it. My wife bought me a blade from Amazon, and I've never heard anything about it. I'm a bit nervous, has anyone heard anything about the Parker SRW?

Welcome aboard Jayhawk, read up in the Wiki section regarding shaving with a str8 razor. First off you will need to get a “shave” ready razor. This is imperative to begin with. We should be having another local shin-dig sometime when the weather cools down, maybe downtown KC. Some of the other guys may chime in.. We’ll get you hooked up if you’re serious about using a str8 razor.

    Cool

That Parker is a "shavette" with replaceable blades?

It won't shave a good as a real straight, but it is usable. Not sure about their blades that come with it. Many here practice with a shavette before moving to a real razor. I used a Double Edge for years which shaves about the same as the shavette.

Welcome goaT, enjoy the shavette - hopefully you will get comfortable with it soon. At that point you will probably have picked up some info from this site (and an addiction for razors) and will be well prepared for your next razor.
