I'm aboard because I know nothing of straight razor shaving. Thought about it every now and again, and figured I'd investigate what it's all about. This is probably the best place to learn, so I'll read and learn a thing or two before I put blade to face.

Welcome to the forum. You have a sound plan. The classifieds are a good indication of market price on used equipment. Keep in mind that most come in ready to shave condition when comparing to other places. It will come in handy when looking at garage sales, ebay and the like.
