Nova Newbie
Hello,
I'm Kyle and I live near Washington, DC in northern Virginia. I'm 28, and don't know anyone else who uses a straight razor, or ever did, but being a history buff, and someone who deplores waste (and disposable razor blades seem to waste space as well as money) my interest continued past mere speculation. I have been interested in straight razors and shaving for about eight months now, but have not yet made a move to buy one. There is a place down the street that sells Theirs-Issard razors for about $110, new, so I suspect that is where I will start. I'll keep reading the posts for ideas. I do have a question regarding shaving soap and mugs. If I put soap in a mug and use my brush to lather it up, won't the bar in the bottom turn into a useless muck?
Thanks, and thanks for any advice to a newcomer.
Kyle

Welcome to SRP! You will find a plethora of usefull information in the wiki and the various forums. If you don't find answers to your questions, be sure to ask and behold, the helpful members here will help. As for purchasing a new razor, be certain it is "Shave Ready" and not just factory honed. You may want to check out the classifieds on this website for a razor. You'll probably will find something in your price range and have the knowledge that it's shave ready, thereby lessening the learning curve and frustration that could come from starting out without the blade being shave ready.
As for your above statement, you have now introduced yourself to thousands of others who do use straight razors, welcome to the club. Best of luck and enjoy your new hobby.
