Thread: College Town Shaver

Ladies and Gents,

My name is Nick, and I send you greetings from the lovely town of Champaign, Illinois. Home of the really crappy Illini football program. If we win just one game this year I'll be happy. I'll also be drunk, so I'll probably be happy anyways.

Anyways, I've been here on SRP for awhile now but have been inactive for almost that whole time. That being said, I have never really stopped using my straight razor. I started using disposeable multiblades once my original razor, a dovo best quality, lost its edge. It feels like someone is ripping the hairs off your face. BUT I finally have stopped being lazy, and in the best interests of my face and sanity I am going to send in that razor to get honed and also get a new razor. Hopefully a family member will get me some nice shaving gear for my birthday too :-)

In school my major is Materials Science and Engineering and I'm also doing coursework for the Masters of Alcohol Consumption program.

Before I started straight razor shaving I hated shaving. Literally I would not shave for weeks just because I hate it so much. but once i learned to relish the process of shaving it really became addictive to me. I used to shave twice a day sometimes (im back to once a week now haha).

Besides school, I work at the lowly IT help desk for the university, and do a lot of stuff with my fraternity (note intentional use of the word, we aren't a 'frat' where guys just get hammered every day) like fundraising for our national philanthropy organization and brotherhood building stuff.

I also enjoy music (notably electronic-based stuff and super brutal death metal), and usually i go as far underground as I can go for that. I do listen to pretty much every genre though. If you like music let me know, I might have a thing or two to show you (and visa/versa).
I enjoy a good smoke, and own a few pipes. One is an Italian made briar (I don't think its a savanelli), another is just an american briar, and the other is my really big meerschaum pipe from Turkey.

I hear you on the having to shave twice a day to be presentable. When I got up in the morning, I grabbed the Mach 3. Then, if I had to be presentable somewhere else after work, I would have to shave again. With the straight, I shave at night and still wake up with a better shave than the M3 could ever give me.
