Cut my face in KY
Not really.
I always got a shave when i went to the barber. When my barber died I had to find another one. It seems no one around here shaves anymore for safety reasons or so they tell me. I decided I would start using a straight razor myself. Ive got some razors that are old (my great grand father was a barber). Ive got a few from my fathers side as well. I did some research on howto sharpen them and came across this site. The ones Im currently using are sharp and I feel that the great shave will happen soon. I dont get a perfect shave yet but since this type of shaving is an artform it will come with practice. No major cuts and I get an ok shave. My biggest thing is the razor just feels awkward in my hand. Anyways just thought id say hi.

Welcome to SRP. You might consider sending one of your razors out to a honemeister for honing. Just in case the ones you have aren't as sharp as they ought to be. Here is the member services in the SRP classifieds where you can find members who offer honing for a nominal fee.
If you could post some photos of your grandfather's razors we would love to see them. Might be able to tell you when they may have been made too. Read my sig line below to avoid nicks and cuts.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Ive read here and watched the videos about grip. Its just a matter of doing it. Every day it gets better. I must be doing something right and Im not pulling the hair and havent lost much blood. My great grandfathers (the barber) razors are somewhere, My grand mother told me she saw them 25 years ago. Where they are now who knows. Ive been looking as she told me I could have them if I found them. She says she hasn't seen his strops since my mother was a child. Who know what ill find. Here are two of my grand fathers. I would assume the winchester isnt that old. Both blades are roughed up above the edge. I would assume from honing maybe bad honing? I dont know.

Welcome and Greetings from Another Kentucky Shaver
Just saying hello and welcome--I'm located in Kentucky as well. Your razors look really nice. I had one some time back with scales like your Clauss, but the blade was shot and I pitched it. I wish now I hadn't!
