Thanked: 14Hi from Lewiston, ID
Hello fellow SRP'ers. I am completely new to this style of shaving. In fact, so new I haven't even started yet!. I was referred here by Dylan and I just bought a razor and strop from him that should be here early next week.
I figure after 30 years of using cartridge and canned cream/gel, I'm ready for something new. Perhaps I may find this to be in error, but I hope not. Time will tell.
I do suffer from OCD according to my wife. lol. I enjoy fine cigars (as does she thankfully) and I have a feeling I may get into this just as much. As I sit here typing this, I am seriously considering heading out the door to hit some antique shops in hopes of starting a collection. I know, I haven't even USED a SR yet.
Anyway, you can all blame Dylan for me being here, and I've been reading and reading through all the beginner info hoping to prepare myself better for next week.
I've been out to the pharmacy's and all I can find is Williams soap for $1.50. I'm really hoping to find someone with a sampler of the Wool fat, Tabac and whatever else I can try out to see what I like most. I did find some Kiss My Face in cool mint here but mint is not really my style. I don't necessarily want my face smelling like toothpaste.
Anyway, I'll cut this short (too late I know). Thanks for the forum and all the great info. Happy to be here.
Forrest

Thanked: 240Glad to have you with us, sounds like you have the right makings for another straight razor collector. Dylan recomended you to the right forum. You will find some of the finest, most helpful folks around. Also many of the members here share your desire for a good cigar I know of at least one thread in the "finer things in life" forum devoted to cigars. Hopefully we can not only encourage your razor collecting/using but also grow your cigar collecting/smoking. Let us know when you get your first razor and enjoy your first shave.

Thanked: 14Thanks for the welcome..and uh..yeah it won't take much to push me down the slippery slope. In fact, I ended up with 2 straights today from antique stores and a nice strop. I knew this was going to be a money spending hobby. LOL Oh well...time for a cigar and to look at my new toys!

Hi and welcome to SRP! Welcome aboard to your new and VERY addicting hobby. As for a soap sampler pack, I don't know in what direction to point you, I do however have a couple of extra soap pucks (Menthol & Vanilla) that are yours if you want them, just send me a PM with your contact info and I'll drop them in the mail for you. Best of luck with your new hobby and keep us posted.

Thanked: 14Very generous. Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing what's out there. I've been reading through pages and pages and finding links to different on line distributors, but none of them have samplers so far. I can see this getting expensive using trial and error! All we have local is Williams soap, Kiss My Face Mint cream and Alba Lime cream.
PM sent,
