Default From plastic to straight In 2 easy steps.

    Hello Everybody,

I was buying bulk disposable razors at costco when somehow I stumbled on the How to shave like your grandfather. I remembered the double edge razors my dad used and decided to try one out.

When I received the razor I was surprised how small but heavy it was. I was really worried I was going to cut up my face but it was super easy and gave me quite a nice shave. I figured if the DE was this good I want to try a straight.

Then I saw this video on youtube and thought man that's the coolest thing I have ever seen.
YouTube - Straight Razor Shave Demonstration - A Quick and Easy "Watch and Then Try it at Home!" Tutorial

Ordered my DVD from Lynn and bought a Dovo Ebony Silver Steel 5/8" Straight Razor & Strop Set and a Norton WaterStone 3 Piece Set from SRD.

Now I am just waiting for it to all show up! I can't wait! I do hope I don't cut myself too bad. I don't think I will.

    Thank you,
    --Shoki

uh-oh My first razor has not even arrived yet and I have purchased 2 more... Luckily I got these from whippeddog.com and will use them for honing and stropping practice.

My plan is to watch Lynn's DVD then practice stropping with the whipped dog razors. Then shave with the new Dovo.

Then I can practice honing with the Whipped Dogs and if I ever get good enough I can hone my Dovo.

Sounds like you've developed a solid plan for yourself. I'm sure you'll have plenty of questions along the way, but we're all here for you.
