I'm looking to buy my first straight razor and just moved to Leuven. Did you figure out the address of that shop? Pardon my newness, but how much do they cost and I assume you sharpen them yourself? What are the benifits over disposable straight razor blades?

Hi and welcome to SRP. I am a moderator and I'm going to move your post into 'member introductions' where more people will see it and you will likely get more feedback. Check out the SRP Wiki beginner's guide here for answers to many questions but keep asking them on the forum as they come up.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Hello!

Welcome to SRP! I'm also in Belgium. And there are more of us here, as well. If you ever come to Brussels, there's a very nice shop in De Brouckere that sells razors, hones and other goodies.

You'll find this community a very friendly and welcoming one. So there... welcome!

    Cool

The advantage of a Straight Razor over a disposable blade is smoothness of the shave. Also the environmental aspect of not adding to the trash mountians. I also like the return to a lost art of Straight Razor shaving. An art that was at one time passed from father to son. Almost lost for all time.

It takes some time to learn to use a Straight Razor, but it is worth it.

If you ever go to my hometown Antwerp I would suggest you go visit De Messenwinkel aka De Koordenwinkel. They've been around for a very long time and offer some great selection of shaving equipment.
