Lonestar Straighter
Good afternoon all! I recently joined SRP and have already been greeted with a warm reception and great interaction over my first thread full of questions. Thanks to all who took the time to respond, participate, and provide guidance! It is very much appreciated!
I have recently purchased several straights, some of which are trademarked with the Red Imp brand, of varying mfg. I'm interested in the Red Imp trademark because my grandfather was a barber earlier in his life and he used at least some Red Imp trademarked products. I have his Red Imp strop and am attempting to compliment it with a few SR's with the same trademark. I am currently collecting with every intention of employing my selections for the purpose intended. I have much to learn.
I cannot begin to show my appreciation for the value of this forum. It is a wealth of information.
As far as myself, I'm just a regular guy. I'm a father of three and a husband of 27 years. I've been employed by one of the biggest railroads in the nation for almost 30 years. I am a music fan and a singer/songwriter. I have tried my hand at acting some and am, by no means, done with the entertainment industry. I've been greatly blessed by open doors with minimal effort on my part.
I love the outdoors. I hunt, fish, shoot, and spend as much time as I am able outside, just enjoying life.
I'm a huge patriot and believe each of us owe an immeasurable debt of gratitiude to those who have earned our freedoms. To those who are willing to stand for freedom for all people. To all of them, everywhere, I say thank you!
I'm looking forward to learning as much as is humanly possible over the coming weeks about my new straights and how to properly use and care for them. I'll say thank you in advance for your patience!
Jeff

Jeff,
Welcome to SRP.
I too own a Red Imp that's part of my shaviing rotation. For more information about Red Imp, you may want to consult the SRP wiki. It may have some historical information about the brand."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanks for the info! I'll hit the Wiki and see what I can turn up. What mfg is your Red Imp?

Thanked: 102Welcome
Welcome:
Good to have another "Railroader" here. I retired four years ago after 32 years as a Police Officer with the Southern and Norfolk Southern Railways.
Many years ago I used a barber who used a Red Imp razor, it was a wedge grind and I think it was made by Case.
Welcome Aboard.

Thanks for the post Mr. Ellington! I thought there were likely other railroaders on here but wasn't sure if there were any way to locate them. I suppose this is one way. My father retired as a Locomotive Engineer for the same company I work for as well. Even though we worked for competing roads (Santa Fe & BNSF) I consider us all family. I appreciate your efforts for all those years.
I'll keep you posted on my shaving experiences with the Red Imps and others I have purchased. After, of course, they are themsleves made shave ready. I may even post photos of the carnage. ha ha
