    Default Hello!!

Hello...I'm in Ohio and being a newb, just wanted to say hello!!
I'm interested in shaving with a straight razor. Have been shaving with an electric, which is ok, but not as close as a blade. nice thing about it is that you don't have to buy blades. Using a blade gets old....does a good enough job but you have to buy blades, and if the store you're at doesn't have what you want then go someplace else!! I think straight razor shaving will solve all of these problems.

Once you decide to go with a straight your face will thank you...as long as you educate yourself before you shave. I would recommend Lynn Abrams shaving cd found here to start with: World Of Straight Razor DVD - Straight Razor Place Classifieds

Lynn is the guru and founder of Straight Razor Place, super informative and well worth the few bucks!

Plus you will get the best feeling shave of your life once you get the hang of it, and your skin will thank you. Best of luck.

    Cool

Yes, many of us here like the idea of not having to buy disposable blades, or the expense of replacing the electric shaver head every couple months. What is suprising is the wonderful shave that straight razors produce!

A wonderful step back into a simpler time, and saving the environment from mounds of plastic junk, along with a closer, better shave. A nice hat trick!

There is however a learning curve. The search for a better shave is not without effort. All the guys and gals here are testimony that it can be done! Just stick with it and ask questions if you have a problem, and read everything here that you can along with Lynn's Shaving DVD!

Hi and welcome! In theory it´s cheaper with straights in the long run, irl you end up buying more than you need. But it´s fun ride

    Default Hello again!!

Well, I thank you all for making me feel so welcome. I'm sure I'm going to have lots of questions. Utopian has already been a huge help to me and I'm sure tie rest of you will be also. In the meantime, I have an old Geneva razor I decided to keep on the sideline and I just ordered a new Dovo, 5/8, half hollow which should make a good razor for me to start off with. Also ordered an Illinois strop and a badger hair brush and some soap. I thank Utopian for helping me get started on the right foot. I am looking forward to the SR shaving experience. Just hang loose, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions once I get started!!
