Thanked: 20Okay so a 12K will give me a sharper edge right? From what I gather it'll take longer to hone than an 8K but gives a better finish?
Where is a good place to buy one? I would like to spend less than $30...hopefully.

Thanked: 983Carba-Tec, so I just found out recently. They have c12k stones for Aus$25 (I had already paid $44US plus postage for mine). Even with postage it should come in at about the right price for you.

Thanked: 20Well I ended up with a barber's hone. Don't be angry with me guys, I did take your advice under consideration, but the price of the barber's hone was too good to pass up!
After I get better as straight shaving, I'll go invest in the 12K but right now, I need a cheap solution to get me by.

Congrats.
Nobody gets mad at anybody here for advice taken or not taken. All final decisions are up to you. The only time I think somebody would get upset is if you take a piece of advice, it doesn't work out for you, and then you lambaste them.
Having said that, a barber's hone will take care of you for quite a while and should not be considered a bad decision.
