Howdy from Texas
That's the closest to cowboy you'll get from me.
What's goin' on everybody? I'm Sam, and I'm new here. I've actually been lurking here a while, and I finally decided to sign up here.
Umm, so I've been on the wet shaving game for about 3 months now. I actually bought my straight-edge 5 months ago to edge-up my hairline, but later I started shaving with it (and loving it). I no longer get razor bumps like I did with my old Mach 3. I'll be handing the Mach 3 down to my little brother.
My current arsenal of tools is:
Razor: Dovo Shavette
Brush: Omega Stripey Badger
Soap: Col. Conk's & Van Der Hagen Glycerin
Aftershave: Old Spice, an Avon balm, and alcohol.
Anyway, that's my shaving history. A little about me:
I'm a High School Senior at the time of writing this. I currently reside in Houston, TX. And, no, I'm not a cowboy or a redneck. My hobbies include computer programming, DJing, playing my trumpet, and drawing. I also am a music lover, and keep an open mind for all kinds of music, though my favorite genres are R&B, Jazz, Techno, and Hip-Hop. My plans for life are to attend University of Texas at Austin and become an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Welcome!
Its sounds like you are enjoying the ride and reaping the benefits of not using an M3..!
Just keep at it, keep practicing and enjoy! Do you have any plans to get a true fixed edge straight? Have a look in the classifieds here as there are loads of great razors available.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to SRP and to str8 shaving...Next, I would just use the real str8, 100% of the time...put down the shavette. After a few nicks and cuts, you will be good to go.
PS: handing the Mach3 to your little brother? C'mon man...that is cruel . You should be throwing that thing in the trash and getting your brother hooked to str8 shaving (like you).

Hello, BrotherSamJoseph:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. Take your time with the straight razor and hone your skills. Read everything you can in the Wiki, and watch as many shaving videos as you can.
By the way, Jockeys' shaving video is quite good and you will learn a lot from it. Beyond that, please ask questions.
Also, I suppose one can say that honing your skills with the straight razor will come in handy when you become a surgeon. Good for you.
Regards,
Obie
