Thanked: 0Trying to get started :)
Hi! My name is Marco. I've been wanting to get a straight razor for about 3 years but only in the last couple weeks have i been getting serious about it. I've been trying to get a good razor. Not a Bad little "good enough for beginners" Blade. The one I'm interested in is this one, Dovo Fibron Wood Razor Folding Knife - BUDK any comments from anybody on it? If there is a better one that anyone here is willing to sell me by all means let me know! I live in Chicago, Il. Although I hail from Fort Collins Colorado. Thanks for reading! Feel free to email me any time! Thanks guys

Do you want a stainless or carbon steel? Carbon is easier to work with but rusts more easily then stainless.

+1 on Stubear's advice about getting your first razor from SRD. It will be without a doubt honed & shave ready. That makes learning to shave with a straight razor a lot easier than having a just a sharp razor. Other option to consider is looking in the classifieds here, a lot of members sell shave ready razors and I sure you could find something you like and that is within your budget.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

It's hard enough to start out with a properly honed razor, let alone one that has a dubious edge. Start out with an SRP razor. Even if you go with that BudK razor, you're still looking at $20 to have it honed anyway...not really a bargain.
