    Default Quick hello

So about a month ago I decided to find out how to sharpen my tanto bladed CRKT knife that I've had for years. After several hours of research on how to sharpen knives I ended up on you tube watching guys shave with knives, then DE's, then Straights. Curiosity and a couple late night google sessions later and here I am on SRP.

I've started building a kit with a wade and butcher that I won on ebay, Luckily it was shave ready and from a member of this forum I already had my first shave with it sideburns and cheeks only and it was a total champ!

Anyway just thought I would say hi to everyone as I tend to be a lurker and not ask too many questions. Once I see a question that I feel I know the answer too or have an opinion on you'll likely see me pop up again.

This seems to be a very impressive site and forum and I'm glad to have the info to dig through and learn from.

Still haven't figured out how to sharpen that stinking knife.

Get going on that Wade & Butcher...you chose wisely my friend.

As for the CRKT, most of their blades are made of poor(er) quality steel and may never take a very good edge. More than likely it's AUS8 or AUS4...I've got a blade made of that junk and it won't sharpen. Besides, after learning to hone a razor changes your whole perspective on what you consider 'sharp'. As a result, I only take my pocket knives to 1k grit instead of trying to get the greatest 5k edge.
