Thanked: 0Hello and thanks to everyone for such a great site.
Hello,
I've been lurking around for a couple of months now and decided it was time to say Hi.
I am also one of those that tried a straight razor about 20 years ago. At the time of course we didn't have great resources like the SRP so I just purchased a new razor and gave it a go.
In the movies and on TV you always see them holding the blade at close to 90 degrees or perpendicular to the skin, so that's what I tried to do. Obviously it was very uncomfortable and basically impossible to actually get any sort of result except for irritation. After that the razor went into a drawer and eventually never seen again.
Now having read through many of the great articles I'm ready to give it another try, the correct way.
Thanks again to everyone for all the great information,
Neudle

Welcome to the great world of St8s. Soon enough you will be enjoying a great shave. There is a learning curve but keep at it. Many knowledgeable folks to ask questions and others like me just for encouragement. I too consider myself kinda new and still learning.
