    Default Hello everyone

I have been a member of SRP for a couple weeks now and have just noticed this area where one can introduce himself. Sooo, here I am and it is a pleasure to be on board.
A little bit about myself, I am in my early twenties and have always enjoyed the fine suddelties in life that deserve more attention. Some examples of these include, smoking a bowl of english tobacco with my grandfather, hunting, fishing, a good cup of coffee in the morning or after a full dinner, a mild cigar in the mountain air, a good novel, tuning up the truck, etc... All of these are little things that I tend to enjoy and that I find are often overlooked by many in the hustle of everyday life. Well, a few years ago, I decided to add the straight razor to the list. I respect the idea of working for something so simple as a shave, I believe that in doing so, we turn something that is mostly viewed as an annoyance into an enjoyable experience and thus gain a little bit more in life. I suppose that is what it is all about, not waiting for someting to come around and give you purpose but giving purpose to what you are already doing. Anyway, enough philosophy. I have been on and off with my shaving over the past few years. I can never seem to master the art to where I am completely comfortable. I shave with a couple simple Dovo razors of standard quality, I strop with a herold solingen or a jemico strop dressed with nothing and I hone with a norton 4k/8k combo or a cheap Colonol conk that has come off the wood and I hold in my palm like a barber hone.

Interestingly enough, I get better results with the cheap arkansas stone than with the norton and she comes almost into shape enough but I can't seem to break that final barrier that is holding back. My razors will grab a hair during the hanging hair test and with slight pressure will cut it but tend to cut along the hair rather than through it. When I shave, the razor cuts well enough until I hit the really heavy areas of my face, namely my chin, and then its rough going. As a new member I would greatly appreciate some insight and I look forward to getting to know you guys.

One option would be to paste one of your strops
A much better one will be to look for someone experienced in your area to help you get the last pieces to fall together
